With a heritage stretching back to the 1800’s, Penguin Random House brings 70,000 digital and 15,000 print books to its customers each year. Other companies talk about social responsibility; Penguin Random House talks about creative responsibility. Their mission is to close the creativity gap by giving everyone the equal opportunity to be creative. However, this mission can’t be fulfilled unless  leaders within Penguin Random House are able to fuel the creativity of their own employees.

We designed and delivered a one-day, bespoke, intensive experience in central London. Together, the team developed a common understanding of what they wanted to be known for as facilitators of creative spaces. We created a bespoke shared language and set of tools to encourage the adoption of Design Thinking; everyone was given the space to practice, and encouraged to apply their learning to a live challenge they were currently managing.

 

"We learned the techniques by using them, which is always the most effective way. There was a lot of variety in learning methods, which kept us thinking from beginning to end."

After positive feedback as one of the best training workshops of the year, the training has since been repeated with other teams within the organisation, such as the International Communications team.
